Non Nuoc Mountain is a spectacular landscape located on the intersection of Van River and Day River in Ninh Binh Province. It is considered as a tourism symbol of Ninh Binh. The mountain was specially engraved a lot of beautiful poem by ancient poets for thousand years ago.

The original name of Non Nuoc Mountain is Duc Thuy Son, meaning the beautiful landscape having both river and mountain. It is over 100m in height, with 72 rocky steps from the foot to the top. The natural scenery on the mountain is amazing, with a rocky cliff facing to the river on one side and green jungle on the other side. Especially, over hundred years, the north-eastern side of the mountain foot has been eroded by river waves forming a hole at the bottom of the mountain.

Hundred years ago, the picturesque beauty of Non Nuoc Mountain attracted many ancient celebrities. They visited the mountain to enjoy natural charm of the mountain and they created poems to praise the awesomeness of Non Nuoc landscape. Therefore, today, there are over 40 engraved poems made from famous person in feudal period on the mountain. It is the most special feature of Non Nuoc. All of the poems were written by ancient Chinese characters.

On the foot of the mountain is Non Nuoc Temple which was built one hundred years ago under King Ly Nhan Tong. In 2006, though it was repaired; the sacred beauty of the temple was remained.

To the southwest of the Mountain is Truong Han Sieu temple, which consecrates very well-known Culturist and Poet Truong Han Sieu who discovered the beauty of Non Nuoc Mountain, and named the mountain as “Duc Thuy Son”. He was the first person engraving his poem on this mountain. Architecture style of Truong Han Sieu Temple like ancient word “Đinh” which character as follow: “丁”, including 3 front compartments called “Tien bai”, and 2 compartments of harems. Two stories of tiled roof, 4 corners bends like scimitar-shaped corners. The whole temple structure looks like a dragon boat floating on picture of mountain and river.

On the top of the mountain is a belvedere built in 14th century. It used to be a place where Truong Han Sieu and his fellows having meetings to discuss about literature and poetry. Sitting in this belvedere, you will feel the fresh and cool air and a peaceful space. From the view of the mountain peak, you can see the overall picture of Ninh Binh Province.
